Bay Area Dance Recital, Choir & School Band Concert Videography (With Dedicated On-Staff Audio Engineers)

From winter Nutcracker ballets and spring dance studio showcases to high school symphonic band concerts, jazz festivals, choir performances, and School Drama Plays & Musicals, performing arts weekends are the highlight of the year for Bay Area students and parents.

Yet nothing disappoints a music director, dance studio owner, or parent faster than receiving a concert video where the stage spotlights blow out the dancers' faces into white blobs—or the band and choir audio sounds like it was recorded inside a tin can.

Since 1985, CA&C Video Productions and our sister studio, CA&C Audio Productions (cacaudio.com), have delivered broadcast-quality multi-camera 1080p HD concert, recital, and theatrical videography across all 9 San Francisco Bay Area counties.

1. The Secret to Unforgettable Concert & Recital Videos: Dedicated Audio Engineers on Staff (CA&C Audio Productions)

Most videographers show up to a school auditorium or performing arts center with a single camera operator and rely on the tiny microphone built into the top of their camera. From 75 feet back in the auditorium, that camera mic picks up coughing, program rustling, and cavernous room echo.

When you hire CA&C Video Productions, our crew includes dedicated professional audio engineers on staff from our sister company, CA&C Audio Productions (cacaudio.com) (you'll spot our audio team on site in their CA&C Audio Productions shirts!):

  • For Dance Studio Recitals & Showcases: We take a direct balanced stereo line feed straight from the sound booth's music playback deck—and blend in just the right amount of live audience applause so every tap routine, hip-hop number, and ballet variation has studio-clean music and the excitement of the live crowd!

  • For Choir, Band & Orchestra Concerts: Our audio engineers deploy matched stereo condenser microphones alongside a direct feed from your front-of-house mixing console—preserving the full dynamic range from delicate flute and vocal solos to powerful full-ensemble crescendos without clipping or distortion.

  • For School Musicals & Drama Productions (Like the Benicia High School Drama Department): Trusted directly by the Benicia High School Drama Department, we balance wireless actor bodypack mics, stage boundary mics, and live orchestra pits so every line of student dialogue is crystal clear.

2. Multi-Camera 1080p HD Stage Framing (Wide Choreography + Tight Soloist Close-Ups)

Parents and dance teachers need to see two things at once: full-stage formations and up-close facial expressions:

  • Camera 1 (Wide Full-Stage Master): Captures the entire stage from edge to edge so choreography formations, corps de ballet spacing, and full choir/orchestra risers are always visible.

  • Camera 2 (Tight Optical Zoom Follow Camera): Tracks soloists, lead actors, instrumental feature sections, and small-group routines in crisp close-up detail.

  • Manual Theatrical Spotlight Exposure: Consumer cameras set on "auto" turn performers' faces pure white whenever a bright theatrical follow-spot hits them against a dark curtain. Our operators manually lock exposure for rich skin tones and vibrant stage lighting.
