June… So many reasons to feel blessed

Juneteenth, commemorated on June 19th,  is another historical celebration in June. The ending of slavery for all, primarily African-American slaves in the United States in 1865, has now been named as a federal holiday. Many governments across the U.S close as celebrations and remembrances take place.

On Father’s Day, we honor our dads for their love, knowledge and support. The breadwinners --- often the sole providers in a household, are the ones who may have coached our baseball or soccer games, the one who poured himself out over math problems, or taught you how to drive. This same man may have lifted you up on his shoulders when you were tired of walking or so that you could see the parade. The man who said, “Yes, my daughter, I will be honored to give you away in your wedding,” or “Son, I know you’ll make us proud as you go off to college.” Dad, mentor, hero --- the one we look up to and are proud to  honor on Sunday, June 20. We thank you for your time, sense of humor, love and generosity.  We love you for who you are and respect you for what you stand for.

My own dad --- Clifton Sr. --- the first C in CA&C Video Productions, is my hero. A respected hard-worker, man of God, mentor for sure, and the man I look up to every day of my life. Desiring to be like him, I have assumed a part of the company business, and vowed that I would do him proud. It is my pleasure to call this man my dad.

Hot Fun in the Summertime (Sly and the Family Stone) describes not only the beginning of the Summer Solstice on Sunday, June 20, but June is also Black Music Appreciation Month. We honor the founding of this annual observance by President Jimmy Carter in June of 1979. We appreciate the stylings of musicians such as BB King, Ella Fitzgerald, Louis Armstrong, Jimi Hendrix, Aretha Franklin, The Temptations, Mr. Ray Charles, Michael Jackson, Prince, James Brown, Miss Tina Turner, and more currently, John Legend, Khalid, and Usher. Their music and voices have coursed through our veins and landed in our minds and hearts forever. We listen to encouraging words of love, life and positivity, as expressed in ways and reasons of these artists. We not only feel good --- this music treats our senses. Turn up your radio, break out your vinyl, Mp3 player, or turn up your phone. Let the tunes soothe your soul!

Among birthdays this month, Gareth Edwards, Director of Rogue One, a movie of Star Wars fame, celebrates on June 1. Gareth, a British film director, screenwriter, cinematographer, visual effects artist, and production designer, although, best known for his film, Monsters, brought us Star Wars magic with his expertise in George Lucas’ mastery. We thank you for your genius.

Like the wedding march brings a promise for a new life together with the one you love, as does

the graduation march ---  a promise made to seek out a life that is positive, productive and poised for success. Families and friends help graduates celebrate this time of joy with encouragement, and well-wishes.  This celebration - in- memories deserves to be viewed live from anywhere loved ones and friends gather. Due to Covid-19, many are not able to attend events in person again this year, so we bring the graduation ceremony straight to you!

Streaming graduations live allows audience members to watch every wave, the Valedictorian’s speech, the actual ritual of the diploma hand off and the mortar-board toss. CA&C Video Productions captures it all in clear audio and video that will beg you bring a tear or two.
